Q

Can the book cover art in a Books from the Catalog box link to our catalog instead of to Amazon?

A

Answer:

If you add a book and click the A icon (Amazon icon) to pull the cover art from Amazon, we are required to link that image to the book on the Amazon website. It's part of Amazon's terms and conditions for using their API for cover art.

If you would rather not have that link in place, you can use cover art from Syndetics, by clicking on the blue S icon (Syndetics icon) instead of the Amazon icon. Then your cover art will link to whatever URL you provide in the URL field.

Through our partnership with Syndetics, any LibGuides customer can use their cover art images in the Books from the Catalog box, whether or not you are a Syndetics customer.

Of course, you're welcome to use cover art you've subscribed to through another source. Just add the link to the cover art in the Cover Art field. The cover art will then link to whatever URL you provide in the URL field.
